She would guide us into the world with engaging depiction of the evolution of traditional Chinese paintings; showing representative works from each period and explain what makes them masterpieces. During hands on practice, she breaks down a complex piece into easy to follow steps. She would help us correct mistakes in each steps while being super encouraging and supportive when we want to try out new things. All of us are able to finish a quite complex lotus flower painting in just one session.

“Such a great experience for my first Traditional Chinese Painting class! Sophie is professional, patient and enthusiastic about teaching, even though I had no experience of this kind of painting, she still managed to guide us through smoothly. And I found it very different from oil painting, the way to use the pen for blending colors is so interesting and it does involve some techniques and lots of practice. We spent a few hours fully immersing into our creation without realizing how fast the time fled. Hours gone by as if it were just a tik-tok. And here we are, have a glance of my accomplishment!”
